  SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
SIPA’s Small Business Development program provides assistance to the largely immigrant, local entrepreneurs and small business owners in the community. Individuals gain valuable knowledge from trained consultants on how to start up businesses as well as on how to expand or improve existing businesses. The goal of SIPA’s Small Business Development program is to provide individuals with the information they need to improve the quality of their own lives and that of their community.

Training and technical assistance workshops cover a wide variety of topics including:
· General operations
· Marketing & Sales
· Access to capital
· Business plan development and assessment
· Business permit and license applications
· Bookkeeping/Accounting
· Legal consultation

In addition, for those new to the United States and/or inexperienced with common financial managing practices, SIPA offers assistance through its financial literacy program. Workshops cover topics such as: balancing a checkbook, applying for credit cards, and looking for loans.
